Fifth European Workshop
Quantum Systems in
Chemistry & Physics

Uppsala, Sweden
2000

The University of Uppsala was the venue for the fifth workshop in April, 2000. The University of Uppsala, founded in 1477 by Archbishop Jakob Ulfsson, is the oldest seat of learning in the Nordic countries. The city of Uppsala boasts a fine Gothic style cathedral founded in 1289 and the house and garden of the well known botanist Carolus Linnaeus. In the field of Quantum Chemistry the work of Uppsala scientists has a worldwide reputation for excellence most particularly because of the pioneering work of the late Professor P.-O. Lowdin. The proceedings of this fifth workshop were published in two volumes in the series Advances in Quantum Chemistry, the well known title established by Lowdin and published by Academic Press. The proceedings of the European Workshop on "Quantum Systems in Chemistry and Physics" held Uppsala University, Sweden, in April, 2000, were published in the series "Advances in Quantum Chemistry" and entitled "New Perspectives in Quantum Systems in Chemistry and Physics". The number of contributions received again necessitated publication of two volumes (volumes 39 and 40), which appeared in early 2001. ISBN 0-12-034839-X ISBN 0-12-034840-3
